Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation
Team Bear

Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation traces its beginnings to 1992 in the hospital room of a little boy named Barrett “Bear” Krupa. While undergoing treatment for Wilms Tumor, “Bear” and his family witnessed firsthand the needs of other patients and their families, understood the need for additional support services within pediatric oncology facilities and became keenly aware of the need for research in the field of pediatric cancer. Sadly, Bear died after a courageous 5 year battle but his legacy lives on in the foundation's mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide support to those who are touched by it.

One of Bear Necessities’ goals is to brighten at least one moment of one day by fulfilling a child’s deep longing or need. This “Miracle” allows the patient to enjoy and savor at least one instance of happiness - something special and unique just for them. In addition, funding for pediatric cancer research is granted annually to pediatric oncology researchers who make meaningful advances and discoveries towards finding a cure and therapies.
