5k Training Runs

After each clinic, participants split into groups for a workout, so you'll want to be already dressed to run, but you may change on site before the clinic if needed.

The first workout consists of a mix of walking and running. Don't worry, your pace is not important, but you should be able to run 1.5 miles entering into the program. (View sample schedules) The main goal is to run the target amount of time during each workout. Focus on time – not speed or distance.

Your group will be led by a Pace Group Leader. They are there to coach you along the course, provide support, and answer questions to the best of their ability. We strive to provide at least two Pace Group Leaders per group, though it is always contingent on the number of volunteers available. Typically, one Pace Group Leader will be toward the front of your group and one will always remain toward the back. Never worry about being the "last" runner – That person will always be a Pace Group Leader.
