Awards for the Recreational Runner
Even if you never win, you can compete on your own level and earn
a Participation Award or a Long Distance Series Award just for coming out and completing
races.
Participation Award
Runners qualify for year-end Participation Awards by doing either of the following:
- Complete a total of 105 kilometers in any combination of
CARA Circuit
and
CARA Registered
races
OR
- Complete one race at each of the following distances in any combination of
CARA Circuit
or
CARA Registered races:
5k or 4-miler;
8k, 5-miler, or 10k;
10-miler;
20k or longer
Only CARA members are eligible. You must complete a registration form (it will be sent to
you with the fall/winter race calendar) and return it to CARA to be eligible for an award.
Long Distance Series Award
All runners who complete five (5) races on the CARA
Long Distance Series,
including one race of marathon distance or longer, will receive a Long Distance Series Award
at year’s end. No other races may be substituted.
Only CARA members are eligible. You must complete a registration form (it will be sent to
you with the fall/winter race calendar) and return it to CARA to be eligible for an award.
Note: All CARA Circuit Races, CARA Registered Races, and CARA Long Distance Series Races
will be identified on the semi-annual CARA race calendar, in CARA’s Chicago Runner Magazine,
