CARA Race Standards
Adopted: December 1990
Revised: October 1993, 1994, 1995
Greatly revised: October, 1997
Revised: October 1999, 2000, 2001
(2001 revisions in bold)
The following standards have been prepared by the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA)
as a guide to ensure a safe and successful race. All CARA Circuit Races and CARA-Registered
races must comply with these standards to maintain their CARA affiliation.
Where appropriate, minimum objective criteria have been established. In other areas,
compliance with guidelines may be achieved through a variety of methods. Where designated,
standards may apply only to CARA Circuit races.
Please use this checklist to track your compliance with these standards. Before each item,
enter the date on which compliance with each standards has been achieved. Keep this
form. Do not return it to CARA.
