CLUB AGE GRADED SCORING

Age graded scoring has been applied to the race results of the competitive running teams which comprise CARA’s Club Circuit. This method provides another snapshot of a Club’s accomplishments and compliments the traditional method of scoring and ranking Clubs.

Age graded scoring is based upon how well a runner does compared to a theoretical best time for his/her age and gender. It is intended to allow comparisons among performances at different ages and genders.

A team’s Club age graded score is the average of the 5 best age graded performances of a team in the Yellow Division and is the average of the 3 best age graded performances in the Green Division. As with other CARA circuit competitions, the top team gets 15 points, 2nd place gets 14 points, etc. A team’s year-end score is based upon its 10 best performances, making 150 a perfect score. With this system, the top 5 runners’ scores are based solely on time, age and gender. Place in age division has no bearing.

CARA will continue to post the results of both methods of scoring the teams in the Club Circuit.
